Life Out of the comfort zone

Chosing the path of the weakling

Today, I did something out of the ordinary. Something which I could not imagine doing. Something I haven’t done in years. And I was proud of that. How foolish I were…

Demanding too much

Foolish it was, indeed. Foolish that I place such unreasonable demands upon my own shoulders. Sure, I love my job. It gives a lot of satisfaction (if it weren’t for the managers, I’d be living the dream). And I take pride in the results. I love helping people further.

But in doing so, I am being unfriendly towards my own body.

So this weekend, my body told me to stop.

A diet of caffeïne and codeïne

It wasn’t the first time my body spoke to me. About a week ago, already, I realized I had to slow down a bit, if I weren’t going to get burned out. I had been working on a diet of Caffeïne (you know, coffee…the strongest kind) and codeïne (those little pills) for two weeks already. And if I wasn’t at work, I’d be asleep. In bed, if I could reach it, but more often on the couch.

Yep… that should have been enough.
So I did slow down.

But I did so too late.

This weekend, the flu which I had been suppressing so hard and effectively (so I thought), came back with a vengeance. Unable to eat, feverish and dizzy, I had to surrender. But at least, on monday I could be better, right?

My body responded nearly immediately by making me pass out while on the way to the bathroom.

You win

Okay body, you win. I am calling in sick…gett well soon card
