Being normal – does it make sense at all?

Today, I came across this image on the web aptly describing what “being normal” often comes down to. If you can’t see it, the message is quoted below, just to be sure.  I don’t know about you, but at first it made me laugh. But then it made me think. And then I realized… am I doing that whole “being an adult”-thing right?

Aren’t we, as a society, doing something wrong? Is this whole “normal” stuff… actually normal?

a quote on being normal

Being normal – kinda insane if you think about it.

Life is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for – in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house that you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

I cannot recall a time where I didn’t have to worry about fitting in, and trying to be normal. But shouldn’t “being normal” be easy? If you actually have to make an effort at “being normal”, doesn’t this automatically imply you’re NOT being normal? Wouldn’t that which comes naturally to you be normal, to you?

So here’s to everybody who doesn’t give a beep about what everybody else thinks. Let’s stop being normal. Let’s just be REAL instead. Let us try to live our lives the way we want to live our lives. Not the way we think others expect us to live our lives.

Perhaps that might also be a lot more fun!

Just wish I were brave enough…

I am far from normal and love people who are unique – it’s good to be different
